Property

Pass through a large iron gate on the street and a cobble-stone entry and ascend a centuries-old stairway (there is no elevator in this classic 18th century building) to the third floor, where you enter a spacious, light-and-air-filled apartment.

This apartment sits in the 2nd arrondissement, directly above les Halles, one minute from the rue Montorgueil, Paris’s most popular market street. Montorgueil is lined with many markets and Parisian food shops, fruiters, cheese stores, bakeries, butchers, fish mongers, flower sellers. Go and wander on Saturday and Sunday morning, have coffee with friends and watch the Parisians doing their food shopping, and then indulge yourself by bringing your fresh lettuce, baguettes, Camembert and Morbier, and a Chardonnay that caught your eye back to your own Paris apartment for a home-cooked dinner. Try out the lovely restaurants just minutes away, such as la Table Ronde and Frenchy's. The metro station is less than one block away, but you could spend a week in the Market Street Apartment and not use it once--the breathtaking Place des Victoires, for some seriously fabulous designer clothes shopping, is just a five-minute walk, and the Louvre is only about 10-15 minutes by foot from your home in Paris.

Features include:
• 2 Bedrooms with Queen sized beds
• Each Bedroom has own luxurious full bath, a step-down tub in one, an oversized shower in the other, both with towel warmers
• Extra-big kitchen demarcated by revealed, restored 18th-century wood beams and black lacquer cabinetry and best Rosle accessories and appliances
• Apartment is light-filled, with 6 large windows, all graced with flower boxes filled with ivy, lavender, and herbs
• Solid oak floors covered with Turkish an Moroccan rugs
• 2 large salons with 12-foot ceilings
• Sound system carries music throughout apartment, can be modulated in each room

Area

The 2nd arrondissment is also the home of all of Paris's surviving 19th-century glazed commercial arcades. Located on the right bank of the River Seine, the 2nd arrondissement, together with the adjacent 8th and 9th arrondissements, hosts an important business district, centred on the Paris Opéra, which houses the city's most dense concentration of business activities. The arondissement contains the former Paris Bourse (stock exchange) and a large number of banking headquarters, as well as a textile district, known as the Sentier, and the Opéra-Comique concert hall. The commercial survivors are – in addition to the Passage des Panoramas – the Galerie Vivienne, the Passage Choiseul, the Galerie Colbert, the Passage des Princes, the Passage du Grand Cerf, the Passage du Caire, the Passage Lemoine, the Passage Jouffroy, the passage Basfour, the passage du Bourg-L'abbé, and the Passage du Ponceau.
