Quality of Life

February 5th, 2007

The International Living magazine has published their latest Quality of Life index here;

We’re pleased to say that for the second year running France has come out as top!

The article describes how the index is created, taking into account the 9 factors of Cost of Living, Culture and Leisure, Economy, Environment, Freedom, Health, Infrastructure, Safety and Risk, and Climate.

Of course, we have to say that we couldn’t agree more!

Transport from Airports

January 24th, 2007

We often get asked how to get to the apartment from the airports, so here’s a little Trips Europe infomercial on our local transport (we’ll do a post on the metro system soon too).

Don’t forget we also offer a shuttlebus service which is often the most convenient method when you’re loaded up with suitcases and children. Shuttlebus is door to door, and only 18€ per adult (10€ for children under 10) - just ask us to arrange it when you book one of our apartments.

Charles de Gaulle

Taxi
Taxis charge around 55€ from the airport to central Paris. Limousine Service for around 120 Euros. Depending on traffic, a taxi takes between 35 and 60 minutes to get to central Paris.

Bus
Roissy Bus service departs from all three terminals every 15 minutes between 6am and 7pm, and every 20 minutes between 7pm and 11pm. The bus goes to Place de l’Opera in Paris, and takes between 45 and 60 minutes. A single fare costs 8.50€.
The Air France bus is a similar service and has three routes (prices one way);

The RER train (Line B) takes you from Terminal 1 and 2 to the following stops in Paris; Gare Du Nord, Châtelet- Les Halles, Saint-Michel-Notre-Dame, Luxembourg, Port-Royal, and Denfert Rochereau. From the RER stop at the airport however, all these stations are referred to as Paris, although there isn’t a stop called Paris or gare du Paris etc. Tickets are 8.10€ per adult and the trains leave every 10 to 15 minutes. Travel time is about 30 to 45 minutes.

Orly Airport

Taxi
A taxi to central Paris costs about 45 Euros. Depending on traffic, a taxi takes between 35 and 60 minutes to get to central Paris.

Departure times are every 4 to 7 minutes, and travel time is 8 minutes. From Antony the RER (line B) takes you into central Paris, stopping at Denfert Rochereau, Port-Royal, Luxembourg, Saint-Michel-Notre-Dame, Châtelet- Les Halles, and Gare Du Nord. From Antony however, these stops are grouped at Paris - Center, and these isn’t a single stop called Paris or Gare du Paris etc. Trains from Antony leave every 10 to 15 minutes. Travel time is about 30 to 45 minutes.

Beauvais Airport

Taxi

Taxis also commute to Paris and charges range from 100 to 120€ during the day and 140 to 160€ at night. Journey time to Paris takes from one to one and half hours depending on the destination and traffic.

Bus
A shuttle bus service (tel: +33 (0)158 050 845) is available to and from Paris-Beauvais Airport and Paris-Porte Maillot. Buses depart from Beauvais airport 20 minutes after the arrival of each flight and from Paris-Porte Maillot buses leave 3 hours before the departure of each flight. Tickets cost 13€ per adult and travel time is about 60 minutes - the easiest way to buy tickets is online, otherwise tickets are sold at Beauvais airport and Bd Pershing (near Porte Maillot). Buses leave every 15 minutes.
There is now a new shuttlebus service from the airport to Beauvais. This is currently 4€ per adult, although this is a promotional price at this time.

Three new apartments

January 5th, 2007

I thought our first post could be nice piece about getting around Paris, but we’ve just added three new apartments to our site! So instead, I’ll give you a quick description of them;

Vacation rental Paris apartmentsThe first is on rue Rivoli, which is one of the main roads that cuts through the middle of Paris. If you’ve ever visited Paris, you’ll bound to have been there, since it has the Hotel de Ville, lots of shops and is just by the river. It’s a two bedroom apartment which can sleep 4, and is 245€ per night.

Vacation rental apartments ParisThe next is another 2 bedroom apartment, this time further north on a road called rue Meslay. Rue Meslay is just a stones throw from Republique, and so you have great metro links to the whole of the city. If you want to walk though, it’s still central enough to be by the river in about 15 minutes. For shoe lovers, it’s worth noting that rue Meslay is *the* street for shoe wholesalers. Practically every shop is a shoe shop, and they do sell retail as well (sorry guys). The apartment sleeps 4 and is 200€ per night.

Vacation rental apartments ParisFinally we have a new apartment on rue Bonaparte, south of the river in the St Germain quartier. This is great news as we haven’t got many apartments in that area, and not surprisingly it’s high on people’s wish lists on where you want to stay. It’s a one bedroom apartment that can sleep 4, and is a bargain at 160€ per night.

If you follow the links, then they’ll take you to the apartment page, and that’ll give you loads more details including photos and the availability calendar.

Welcome to Trips Europe Blog!

January 3rd, 2007

Hello and welcome to our new blog.

We’re Nicholas and Christopher, and we’re the owners of Trips Europe. Trips has been around for quite a while now, and judging from all the nice mails we get from people who’ve stayed with us we must be doing something right! We’re a small company that likes to keep things nice and personal - when you book with us we’ll be the guys dealing with all the correspondence with you, and when you arrive in Paris we’ll be there to meet you at the apartment to help you settle in and make the most of your holiday!
This blog is so we can announce any new apartments, but also to let everyone know of all the new events and other great things going on in Paris. We’ll do some posts on the best ways on getting to and around Paris, and anything else that hopefully will make you really want to come to Paris.

À bientôt,

Christopher & Nicholas
